As with other public services in most countries Edison under pressure, use of renewable energies such as solar and wind energy is increasing.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has a goal of the California Public Utilities for 33% of its energy from renewable sources by 2020.

Traditionally, utilities have turned to other companies to build solar power plants and power sales. But with the project on the roof of Edison, who have much and pay the shop owner to rent the premises. In the next four years will allow ProLogis to plates to 25 million square feet of warehouse space.
In more than 250 megawatts of solar energy should own Edison, who expects at least another 240 megawatts on the roofs of the other commercial companies to sell the electricity to be brought to Edison.

This means more competition for the roofs. Edison needs of roofs that are less than five years, it is as long as the plates of his life from 20 years to last.

AMB Property Real Estate Company, which owns 22.4 million square meters of warehousing space in the region of Los Angeles, Edison hired a roof of a warehouse.
Rents are rising as Edison and others in the competition for space, especially given the short recession driven by the new construction.  Time is on the side of the building owner,  said Steve Campbell, vice president of AMB.

Although primarily in homes and businesses, other photovoltaic technology has long been used as the best for large-scale solar energy.

? Incentives. In the fall of 2008, utilities are entitled to federal tax credits of up to 30% of project costs. The tax credit was extended until 2016 to ensure that public services can start long term projects and still tax credits for years.

? Better technology. The plates are not the same amount, or other holes in the roof, to be held in place. Instead, use weights or design. This means there is less risk of leakage and less weight.

It is a decade takes to get the loan of technology,  said Julie Blunden diy solar panels, vice president of offer module manufacturer SunPower panels that Edison.
This, and the cost of the panel begins to make a reasonable proposal,  said Blunden.
